Here's a recipe that is stored as an XML file and was converted to HTML using an XSL transformation and a replace command to correct a difference between the way XML and HTML handle the <br> tag. Enjoy the Brownies!

Brownies

Author: Kathleen King
Category: Dessert

These brownies are out of this world. Recipe was found in "Kathleen's Bake Shop Cookbook". Do not overbake, or they will be a completely different brownie. They should be a little damp when you remove them from the oven because they will continue to bake in their own heat.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons water
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square pan.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, combine chocolate chips and vanilla.
  4. In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and water. Bring this mixture just to a boil. Pour hot mixture over chips and stir. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the flour mixture. Fold in nuts if desired. Pour into prepared pan. Spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until slightly firm to touch. When cool, cut into squares.

Yield: 16 small brownies
